Exploring higher education is exciting and can also be anxiety producing for families. Reducing your stress by providing you with professional and compassionate guidance is my intention. As we engage in a student-driven approach to college planning, my role is to share my expertise with you and serve as a mentor. I facilitate our process-oriented work together by providing the infrastructure, which includes a timeline and a framework for the Tasks and Services that need to be completed. Self-advocacy skills are fostered throughout this process as they are instrumental in enabling a student to complete the college planning and application process. Our partnership is also outcomes-focused so that the student sets themselves up for success in college, where self-advocacy skills are central to a positive and productive college experience! During our video conferencing sessions, all information will be provided both verbally and visually in order to accommodate different learning styles! If the student is a tactile and/or kinesthetic learner, I invite them to “move,” play with fidgets, stroke the family pet, or use whatever methods enhance their learning process! I look forward to a rewarding collaboration with you!
I provide consulting services on an hourly basis. There is no need to commit to a comprehensive package if that isn’t necessary for achieving your family's goals in our work together. LD College Expert, LLC employs a “pay as you go,” business model regardless of how much work and time we intend to invest in our partnership.
Experience has shown that at the beginning of the college planning process, it’s often difficult for a family to know exactly how much help they will need, and on what tasks and services they will need help with! Some families may come to the Consultant when they have already completed some of the tasks and services that are a part of the process. Therefore with our model, the Consultant meets your family “where you are at,” in the college planning process in order to provide the specific guidance that you seek. Take it one Task / Service at a time, and pay as you go. If there is a Task / Service that your family would like help with that isn’t listed in my Menu below, just use my Calendly link to schedule a 15 minute Meet and Greet or a 30 minute free Consultation to discuss it with me to see if it's a possibility!
After a free consultation, if your family chooses to work with LD College Expert, LLC, please book the Profile Evaluation via my Calendly link and provide your credit card information to make payment at the time of booking. ALL new clients begin with the "Profile Evaluation," so that I can become fully educated about the student's learning profile. If both the Consultant and Family determine that they are a good fit AFTER completing this initial work together, time can be booked one session at a time in 1 Hour, 1.5 Hour and 2 Hour increments, and you pay as you go. Based on my recommendations for next steps, families can choose to move forward to work on other Tasks with me. Each task has a set of Services to choose from. Collaboratively, we decide what to work on and how much time to allow for the work. Ongoing clients also have the option for a customized package, or the comprehensive package with a price cap! At the time of booking, carefully choose and indicate the Task and Service you desire from my Menu. A customized package based on the Tasks and Services sought can also be created. Or at any time, the family can choose to upgrade to a Comprehensive Package, which includes ALL Tasks and Services listed on the Menu! Keep in mind that the total cost for a Comprehensive Package will be capped at $6,900 for a family with a freshman or sophomore in High School, and at $5,900 for a family with a junior or senior in High School! Going in knowing about our price cap gives you flexibility and will hopefully alleviate any concerns about price ambiguity! In theory and in practice you can either: choose the Task and Service that you want to work on one session at a time, or have a package customized for you, or get the comprehensive package for a capped price. Whatever you choose, you pay as you go, and we move through the work at the pace we set together!
Do you have a diagnosis of a learning disability and/or related disorder? If so, provide me with student documentation including the following: most recent Psychology Report, IEP/504 if applicable, Transcripts, Writing Sample from the current school year, and a Resume/Bragg Sheet or Activity List if your student has one. I thoroughly review the documents, and then we schedule 2 virtual meetings in order to discuss my impressions, gather more data face-to-face and then make recommendations for next steps.
There is NO NEED to purchase an expensive package for college planning, particularly if you aren't sure of what tasks you will need help on, or if you've already begun the process! After completing the Profile Evaluation, buy only the hours you need, and I will customize services to meet you where you are at in this process! Choose from a variety of topics on college planning and tell me what I can help you with! My hourly rate actually includes 2 hours; 1 hour of my time preparing information for our session and 1 hour for our virtual meeting!
Are you unsure of what you want to be when you grow up? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the "life after High School," options? Perhaps you're seeking direction for going into the work force? Or maybe you want to pursue higher education but don't know if you're college ready? Perhaps you intend to go to college, or are already a college student but haven't yet figured out your career direction or even academic area of interest? Do you want to broaden your self-awareness with information that will help point you in the right direction? Taking assessments can empower you to make great choices that will optimize your higher education experiences! I will customize assessments for you to take in order to explore any of the following: personality, skills, multiple intelligences, interests, learning style, values, work style and lifestyle variables. Then I will debrief your results during a virtual session, and I will provide you with a full report so that you can move forward with a plan of action for building your future!
What is a GAP year? Are there really program options geared specifically towards students with diagnosed learning disabilities and/or related disorders? How do I figure out what kind of GAP program will help me with college and life readiness? We can provide you with information about structured GAP programs that will help you to continue to grow through Great Alternative Program (GAP) experiences! Becoming informed about your options by partnering with an IEC who specializes in working with Neurodivergent students will open doors for a bright future! We will work with you to determine your personal goals for skills and experiences that you want to acquire during a GAP program. Then we will curate a customized list of right-fit GAP programs which may include any and all of the following: Transition, Internship and Travel Programs.
Are you wondering how learning supports in college are similar to and different from those that you have in place during High School? Do you want to learn more about what you will specifically need in order to be successful academically in college? Our partnership will enable me to determine all of your "must have," "No go," and "Like to Have," college parameters and to then share my expertise and knowledge about learning supports available at colleges in the U.S. I will then research schools and share a customized list of right-fit colleges that check your boxes and will set you up for college academic success! I will also guide you through the process of investigating the schools on your list and making contacts with the learning support staff at each college. Tips for college visits will also be provided.
Don't be overwhelmed by the college application process! I am here to help you! Do you need help with filling out your applications and the supplemental essays? Maybe you want to have a mock interview so that I can help you prepare for your interview with the LD Director at the colleges you're applying to? Just reach out and tell me what tasks you need help with!
